Following is my poem: Trifling with Truffles: by Richard W Linford.
I trifled with truffles in springtime; I truffled with trifles in June; I trifled and truffled in Autumn; No time just to bay at the Moon. I trifled with truffles in August; I truffled with trifles in May; I paused long enough to consider; Whats left at the end of the day. I trifled with truffles in business; Twas fun and an oft given rush; I truffled and trifled and trifled and truffled; The din of it all gave no hush. While truffling with great gastronomy; While trifling with lawsuits and more; While living it up in my mansions; Picasos Matisse I adore. Estate planning fighting off taxes; The yachts and the silver white jets; The travel to exotic places;
Not trifling with casino bets. Im trifling and truffling Im loving; Hot cars and the lifestyle and gold; The vanity is disconcerting; Im feeling my years and Im old. The Lord Jesus Christ is there waiting; Hes smiling extending his hand; I wonder and worship and ponder; The beaches and times golden sand. Im truffling with billionaire money; Im trifling with billionaire fame; Im truffling and trifling and saddened; For what will become of my name. Ive worked now and gathered some truffles; Im getting along past good years; I've trifled and truffled and truffled and trifled; I wonder wholl shed any tears. Ive given some bucks to a college; Ive given some bucks to a school; Ive given some bucks to old Oxford; Ive wondered if Ive been a fool. No God gave me certain great talents; He's truffled them into some gold; Ive truffled and trifled and trifled and truffled; Ive lived a good life now Im old. I share with my children grandchildren; The wisdom Ive gained on my way; Just truffle and trifle and trifle and truffle; Your best is enough for each day. In truffling and trifling remember; The masses who suffer less bread; Share smiling and trifling and truffles; Before its too late and youre dead. I trifle now quietly trifle; The rest home is quiet indeed; My truffles are still safely banking; Today I dont have any need. In hindsight which is 20/20; The truffling was mighty good fun; But trifling is all that it leads to; Now that it almost is done. So here is what I've decided; Ive thought on it long and quite hard; Decided to give half my truffles; To charity and to this bard; My kids sure do covet my truffles; They eat them with relish and say; When daddy stops trifling with truffles; We surely wont give them away.
