Description
Most Expensive Flower in the World Priceless Kadapul 1000000000. Oil and Acrylic. I used gold acrylic. I used a palette knife to manipulate the white oil paint to simulate the flower. The legendary Sri Lanka Kadupul Flower of the Celestial Nagas. I painted this flower on cream colored watercolor paper. Size 9 in. high x 12 in. wide. I painted it with acrylic gold and white acrylic base and white oil flower and background and gold acrylic signature and blue oil representing the suggestion of background. My painting is impressionistic. I painted the stems or leaves in gold. This flower has never been sold for more than other expensive flowers; notwithstanding, the reason it is the most expensive flower in the world is because it is priceless. No amount of money can buy The Kadupul Flower. It is so rare. It is so frail. Its beauty is so delicate. It takes a year to bloom. Then it lives only for a few hours during a single night. Then it dies. It blossoms just before midnight and perishes before dawn. No orchid-lover or person of wealth has yet been able to remove the flower from its stem to make a gift of it. This flower is mythical. It is revered as the most desirable and valuable flower on earth. I painted the flower with brush and palette knife. This flower does not have a price tag. It cannot be picked without damaging it. It dies before dawn. It emanates a calming, lovely strange fragrance. It is a midnight miracle. Once picked it lasts only for hours. It has never been sold in shops or online. It is the flower that cannot be bought. It is Queen of the Night. When these flowers bloom, it is Hindu and Buddhist belief that certain deities come down from their celestial abodes to offer these flowers to Buddha on the Holy Mountain Sri Pada. The Chinese describe this flower as someone who has an impressive but very brief moment of glory.
