This is my knife painting of a western endurance saddle. Endurance racing is one if not the most challenging of international equestrian competitions. It is called "the sport of a million steps." Few horses finish. Strict vet checks along the way eliminate any horse not in good health. Most winners are Arabian horses. These are controlled long-distance races. These are regional and international competitions. The horse that wins is the horse that crosses the finish line first and passes the vet check. Races in the U.S. are 50 to 100 miles long. Limited distance Competition includes short races. Competitive trail rides are also part of endurance racing.
